An association class is an association that is also a class. It not only connects a set of classifiers but also defines a set of features that belong to the relationship itself and not any of the classifiers. JS: AssociationClass has been renamed AssociationUMLClass to avoid a name clash when the AssociationClass proxy for Association is generated in the JMI repository. This is a hack and should be fixed by improving name substitution in the JMI generator.
